Purpose of Action for the Disabled:
To increase the knowledge of persons with disabilities and enable them to reach out to
others, and help local businesses, non-disabled, industries, and the organizations/agencies
to understand and improve their awareness of the needs of persons with disabilities and
accessibility issues.
Services available through Action for the Disabled:
- Provide advice about accessibility for people with disabilities as well as non-disabled in
residential and non-residential environments,
- Consultation for accessibility to stores, corporations, industries and other public
buildings,
- Provide Sensitivity Training for the staff at local businesses to encourage and help
them deal with customers with disabilities,
- Organize fund raising events for local area agencies,
- Organize conferences, workshops, seminars for organizations,
- Assist with the development of promotional materials, and/or
- Advise new consumer-related organizations or groups on their organizational structure.
