With a cataract, the field of vision remains
the same, but the image becomes blurred
and gives the sense of looking through a
fog.
As a person ages, a common condition that
occurs is
Macular Degeneration.

The retina is damaged and vision in the
central field of view is blocked.  Vision in the
periphery remains unaffected.
Over time, a person with Diabetes may
develop
Diabetic Retinopathy.  This
condition is from "leaking" blood vessels
that damage portions of the field of vision.

Not everyone with diabetes will experience
this, but with elevated blood pressure and
glucose levels the incidence increases.
An elevated pressure within the eye may
cause damage to the optic nerve and
reduce the field of vision.  This condition is
called
Glaucoma.

In advanced Glaucoma, printed materials
may become "faded".
The following examples of vision are from Lighthouse International.

Founded in 1905, Lighthouse International is a leading non-profit organization that helps
people of all ages who are at risk for, or are experiencing, vision loss.
